NMK309 - SKX/SRPD Slim Flat Sapphire Crystal (for Flat Inserts)

I mostly do upgrades like crystals and bezels/inserts. My first SKX was a beaten up eBay find from the Philippines back in 2013. The 7s26 was toast so I disassembled the entire watch for science. Using a dental pic to rub out the nicks, several sand paper grits for scratches and dialux on a dremel for polishing the polished surfaces. I purchased a 7s36 on a forum and commenced to building with the cheapest reproduction parts I could find. At some point an skxa63 beater was purchased from eBay and it contained a beautiful dial and well regulated movement that ended progress with my first skx. Applying everything learned from the first skx the skxa63 became my trophy. Having the first case sitting empty for so long It seemed like a good time to piece together something with as much Seiko DNA as possible. I considered a 4r34 but after owning a Miyota 9075 there was no need for a caller gmt and the dial choices were much more limited as I didn’t want to drill out the dial for the GMT hand. I decided to let my dial choice determine the movement so I purchased a 4r36 and got busy! A few new tools and a watch is born. Dial and hands go well together in my opinion. The only non matching part is the bezel insert font. But it was close to what I was looking for.

I got this with the clear at and it looks fantastic and is great quality. Perfect choice to get that slightly slimmer profile for every day wear and an easier ‘under the cuff’ fit for my watch.
The only thing to be careful of is that this has a thicker gasket than normal crystals. I was a bit too rough about installing it and split the gasket slightly. I’m sure it was my fault. I will be installing a fresh gasket asap and I will take more care next time.

this crystal is not slimmer than the stock hardlex, at least not the one i received. it measured closer to 3.1mm
