namoki x Watch Me Build It

Creator: Shaun of Watch Me Build It

Creator Notes: When I began watchmaking in 2018, I discovered the ‘Lord of the Chapter Rings,’ a legendary watch by the brand with the crown logo. Its younger sibling, the BB58, became famous for resembling an early version of the ultimate dive watch, featuring a large crown without guards.

Namoki asked me to collaborate on a DIY kit to honor this iconic design:
Case: NMK939 with a big crown, slim bezel, and ‘top hat’ sapphire.
Bracelet: Riveted end plates and female links, echoing early dive watches.
Dial and Hands: BB58 dial with gold accents and merc hands, capturing 1950s style.
Bezel Insert: Brushed steel with white indices and a red triangle at 12.

My YouTube channel, ‘Watch Me Build It’ (WMBI), inspired the kit name: The MB-78. Collaborating with Namoki is an honor, and I hope you enjoy this tribute to the iconic dive watch.

Everything arrived un pristine condition, packaged amazingly.

Quality is great with no complaints.

Watch assembly instructions are vague and require external videos for some extra guidance.

Tools are... not bad. Not the best quality, will get the job done. For this build I got a couple of extra equipments like the hand remover, watch pad and lube for the rubber. For the next build I'll also get the movement holder because I struggled a bit with the stem to get it out without bending the hands.

Overall watch quality is great. Not the best strap, but that is easily changeable.

NOTE: you will most likely need to trim down the stem for the crown to be flush with the case. I had to do it, you most likely will too. Using a cutter worked for me, and I eyeballed it with as much precision as I can. I recommend getting the right tools for it, including a filer.

Beautiful build, love the kit!

Just finished my MK2 black dial watch build and I must say it was a lot of fun! The parts are all super high quality and I really love the case and the tapered bracelet! Excellent kit and highly recommended! This is a keeper that I will be able to repair and mod as the years go on.

Fantastic Kit with Perfect Specs

Built this watch for a client, and it was absolutely beautiful in every way. The dial, the hands, the case, bezel action and crown, were all as good as you can get.

Very satisfying

This was my first experience at DIY watch assembly, and I'm very pleased with the outcome.
Assembly straightforward, the second hand is tricky, but take your time and you'll eventually get there. The watch components are nice quality and the end result looks great. The lume and legibility of the stealth skeleton model are tremendous. Its the most accurate of my automatic watches (plus 4 sec a day) and the crown action feel very nice.
There's plenty of YouTube videos for assembly tips.
The tool kit is adequate, the kind of thing thats available from amazon. I'd upgrade elements of it if you're going to make a habit of watch modding. I also bought the movement holder.
The rubber strap is OK, but not my taste, so I'm going to try a nato style instead.
I'm in the UK, I couldn't believe how quick delivery was, placed order Tuesday, received Friday, great communication and updates.
Overall, great shopping experience, very nice product.
Well done namoki.

first experience : a great one

This will be my first modding experience too.
My impressions :
-very fast delivery, the package is well packed, protected.
- the kit: the elements are well presented in a very practical metal box. The tools seem to be of good quality. everything that is useful and necessary is present. it will be usefull perhaps to add a magnifying glass to be complete.
-the instructions: simple, didactic, it is not very developed, but covers the assembly steps clearly.
-The watch. I haven't done the assembly yet, but all the elements are well protected and give a nice quality impression.

Great 36mm Oyster homage.

I received mine today and had it assembled and on my wrist in 90 minutes. Very easy assembly and everything went together perfectly. It’s a dead ringer for the 36mm Oyster. The finish and quality of the case, green dial and bracelet are top notch. I wish a 41mm was available.

I’ll probably build a couple of more. I intend to put a domed crystal in this one as well.

Watchmaking Kit: Explorer

I have been "assembling" a watch on many websites shopping carts and then Namoki came out with their kit. I was wanting to build an Explorer type watch and their kit ticked that box for me and was priced quite competitively so everything included so I snapped it up.

SHIPPING: I got my package really quickly. However I was missing a part. I notified Namoki and within a few days I had the missing part on the way. I received the part a couple weeks later, and finally got to assemble my watch. I am pleased with the customer service, however not having the complete kit the first time around was a bit disappointing but things happen and Namoki apologized and rectified the issue.

INSTRUCTIONS: A very basic fold out that gives you an overview of the assembly, much like Lego instructions but with some text. I think this is the area Namoki needs to improve. I have never assembled a full watch before, my experience is that of changing straps/bracelets and batteries. I just used YouTube to answer the more specific questions I had, and I used the fold out for just the order of operations.

WATCH TOOL KIT: The tools were nothing spectacular, but they were overall better quality than what you find on eBay or Amazon. The kit had everything you need to assemble the watch, with one exception, a loupe would have been handy, thankfully I have one, so in my case no big deal.

WATCH: I am very happy with the fit and finishing of all the parts. Far better quality than most Ali Express or Ebay. I will definitely be purchasing from Namoki in the future.

OVERALL: This was my first purchase from Namoki and I am happy with their product and their service. Outside of a small QC issue, and the basic instructions, I would recommend buying from Namoki.

Crystal broke

After a couple weeks of regular use I started hearing a light rattling noise. Then then 80% of the crystal fell out leaving some broken material in the case.

REALLY nice materials.. 'better' than the icon?

Surprised at how nice everything is, especially the bracelet. I have a Rolex Datejust and handed it and this AquaJust build to my wife asking, "Which do you prefer?" and she immediately picked the Namoki build... (and she is a watch person with a JLC Reverso as her daily wear). What else can I say?

Terrible

Instructions are unclear. Even watching people try to make this watch on youtube struggle to get the hands on. Each person does it differently, so I'm not even sure what the intended way to get the hands on is supposed to be.

Basically gave up after the second hand wouldn't go on. I'm not sure if its supposed to fit in the hole, or if its supposed to go on a small piece of metal that sticks out of the hole, because the instructions don't say, or mention the little protrusion. Just a waste of time.

Awesome Watch!

This build came out great. I love how the dial looks in the sunshine. Very happy with this watch.

Fun but instructions could be clearer

Loved the kit 38mm case is about as large as I would want as a woman. The only challenge I had was installing the second hand (no surprise) which I ended up bending as I used the wrong size hand installation tool. Being new to this it would have been helpful if the instructions listed which color hand installation tool to use.

Overall, the watch is great. I customized the dial and strap to make it my own.

First Kit

Gorgeous watch and an impressive kit, especially for the price. Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was doing and ended up having to replace the dial, movement, and hands before it was finished. I don't think you can get a better watch for this price.

I do want to point out a few issues that prevent this from being five stars. First, the sapphire crystal has a couple of cloudy spots on it that I cannot remove. It adds some "character" to my finished watch, but a spotless crystal would have been nice. Second, the instruction manual was slightly confusing about which dial feet to trim off...hence why I had to replace the dial. In general, the instructions are pretty limited--I would suggest watching youtube videos before you start. Third, while the tool kit has been mostly pretty good for this watch and two other kits I have made, one of the watch hand removal tools fell apart after the first use. These won't be confused for professional grade tools, but they've gotten the job done.

Great

Watch is great beautiful only thing is I’ve been really triggering to get that second hand on there I think I damaged it too much at this point to get it on definitely just user error just harder than it looks
